Units Target Vocabulary Cluster Grammar Structure
Chapt. 2 Students learn adjectives used with "estar" and "sentirse" to describe mental states. Students learn the present indicative conjugation of "sentirse," and the preterite conjugation of "ir" and of regular "ar" verbs.
Chapt. 3 Students learn "daily routine" and "domestic chore" vocabulary. Students review the conjugation of present tense stem changing verbs, further develop their understanding of the conjugation of reflexive verbs, and learn to conjugate "er/ir" preterite tense verbs, to form adverbs, and the construct "Hace + amount of time + que + present tense".
Chapt. 4 Students learn additional personal characteristic adjectives, direct object pronouns, verbs related to the classroom, verbs related to the office and "conocer". Students learn the use of "deberias" vs. "debes," the conjugation of "conocer," and further develop their understanding of direct object pronouns.
Chapt.5 Students learn recreation, fitness, and body parts vocabulary. Students learn to conjugate in the preterite tense o→u stem changing verbs and the verbs "dar" and "poder," and irregular and regular "tú" commands.
Chapt. 6 Students learn traffic and public transportation, and restaurant vocabulary. Students learn the use of "saber" vs. "conocer", and the conjugation in the preterite tense of e→i stem changing verbs and the verb "traer".
Chapt. 7 Students learn verbs related to students at play and additional vocabulary describing personal characteristics. Students learn the conjugation of the imperfect tense, the irregular imperfect conjugations of the verbs "ir, ver,ser," and "hay," and the constructs "tan + adjective or adverb + como" and "tanto(a,os,as) + noun + como."
Chapt. 8 Student learn animal, entertainment, and automobile vocabulary, and the conjugation of the irregular preterite verb decir. Student reinforce their understanding of forming adverbs, superlatives, verbs used with prepositions, and learn to use "mientras" + imperfect tense to describe activities that happened simultaneously in the past, and learn the conjugation of "decir" in the preterite tense.
Chapt. 9 Students learn tourism, urban traffic, pedestrian, and shopping vocabulary. Student learn the "usted" and "ustedes" command forms.
Chapt. 10 Students learn weather, space, and fairy tale vocabulary, and more reflexive verbs. Students learn to conjugation more irregular preterite verbs, learn to express weather in the "imperfect" tense, and the conjugation of the irregular verb "tener" in the preterite tense.
