District Test Scores Significantly Above State and National Averages

The Riverview School District continues to perform well on state and national assessments. District WASL scores were above state averages in every area at every grade level and the district is making progress on a five-year goal set in 2005 to get 80% of all students to standard the areas of reading, writing, and math. When averaging district averages for all grades tested, 78% of students passed reading, 75% passed writing, and 61% passed math. The District Math Advisory Committee completed an ambitious plan last spring to address the achievement gap between reading and math. Schools and programs have already initiated efforts to accelerate improvement. Science scores demonstrated dramatic improvement for the second year in a row, posting scores that were 15% above state averages at the 5 th grade level and 18% above state averages at the 8th grade level.

District ACT, SAT, and AP results were all significantly above state and national averages in every area assessed. Dr. Anthony Smith, Assistant Superintendent for the district, is pleased with the district's progress. "Our focused efforts around teaming with all stakeholders and focusing on student achievement are really paying off. We have a staff that is absolutely committed to continuous improvement which makes me extremely proud."
