WASA-Metro COMMUNITY RECOGNITION AWARD
Laura Tisdale, Heather Downing, Cynde Buford, Wendy Bradley of the Riverview Schools Committee, with Northshore School District Superintendent Larry Francois (L) and Riverview School District Superintendent, Dr. Anthony Smith (R).
Each year, Washington Association of School Administrators Metro Division (WASA Metro) holds a luncheon and an awards ceremony to honor community leaders. This year, Riverview Schools Committee was nominated by the Riverview School District and received this award at the May 23, 2014 luncheon held at Puget Sound Educational Service District. The following is their WASA Community Recognition Award 2014 nomination:
In September the School Board called out for volunteers to serve on the Riverview Schools Committee for the upcoming February levy election. Four volunteers came together for the first time to re-create the Riverview Schools Committee. These individuals lead and supported a successful campaign for the 4-year Educational Programs M&O Levy and the Technology Levy in Riverview School District.
Heather Downing and Laura Tisdale, long time PTSA members, stepped up to the call and brought in Wendy Bradley and Cynde Buford to form the Schools Committee. While none of these volunteers had ever run an election campaign, their enthusiasm was overwhelming. Their shared dedication and passion to our community children was evident in all that they accomplished.
Thank you to the Riverview Schools Committee for their success in helping maintain the quality of Riverview's education and providing a bright future for all our students.
