16 Cedarcrest DECA Students Advance to Compete at State Conference

On Friday, January 5, 2018, 16 students, from Cedarcrest High School’s DECA Chapter, qualified for the upcoming State Career Development Conference (SCDC) in March. DECA students competed at the Area 3 Regional Career Development Conference (CDC) event, joining more than 11,000 students who participate in CDC events around the State of Washington each year.

Cedarcrest DECA students qualified in 9 different competitive categories for the upcoming SCDC event, while two additional students earned on-stage recognition.

DECA, in addition to preparing students to become leaders and entrepreneurs for careers and education in several business areas, arrange competitive events focused in the areas of marketing, business management and administration, finance, and hospitality and tourism. Students are evaluated in both a written component, such as an exam or report, and an interactive component with an industry professional serving as a judge.
