They will play on Tuesday, October 31, and more information will be passed along as we have it.

TWO VARSITY VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS NAMED CO-GIRLS' ATHLETE OF THE WEEK!
The Snoqualmie Valley Sports Journal has awarded Kami Leslie and Taeler Gerde with it's Athlete of the Week distinction.

"...We recognize Kami Leslie and Taeler Gerde this week. The two Red Wolves led the way in a Senior Night sweep last Thursday over Granite Falls. Leslie had 27 assists, six digs and three kills, while Gerde added 15 digs, six kills and five aces. The latest Northwest District RPI has them currently in the top 12 teams overall in the district, so they’re going to be headed to the NWD playoffs once again this fall it appears. ANOTHER HOMECOMING IN THE BOOKS!
Here's hoping all who attended Cedarcrest High School's Homecoming events from this weekend had a most wonderful and memorable of times.

Beginning with the hard-fought football game on Friday night against Cedar Park Christian, Homecoming 2017 played to a nearly packed stadium, featured Senior Night for football Seniors and their families, saw the announcement of Homecoming royalty, and a special appearance from Cedarcrest alumni Kara Burfiend (Lawson), who was accompanied by The Food Network, to unveil a special four-foot-tall cake which revealed the names of this year's Homecoming King and Queen (James Moery and Alexis Robertson, respectively).

We also had performances from Cedarcrest Drill, Cheer, DECA raised money for their Miracle Minute fund-raising campaign, and the CHS Band and Colorguard unveiled their field show for all in attendance, once the game had concluded. Then, to Saturday night, where a fantastic dance took place at MoPOP in Seattle (formerly known as EMP). All in all, a Homecoming these students likely won't forget for a long time to come.

AND SPEAKING OF THE CEDARCREST BAND...
Cedarcrest's Band and Colorguard traveled to Everett on Saturday morning and afternoon and competed in the 30th Annual Puget Sound Festival of the Bands. Of 16 teams competing, the Red Wolves finished in 8th place!

Next weekend, the crew will travel to Mariner High School in Everett and compete in the Kamiak Music in Motion Festival, with the annual Auburn Veteran's Day Marching Band Competition following, on Saturday, November 11, at Auburn Memorial Stadium.

CEDARCREST SPORTS TONIGHT!

Congratulations to Cedarcrest Cross-Country runner Ben Benson, named Boys Athlete of the Week by the Snoqualmie Valley Sports Journal.

"Ben Benson gets our nod this week on the strength of a solid third-place finish for the Red Wolves in their boys’ race last week at King’s. Benson, who clocked just under 13 minutes in that competition last Wednesday, has a total of three top fives this season, and last week helped CHS to a dominant team performance as they won the meet. CHS hosts the Cascade Conference meet this week in Carnation, and Benson is expected to make a strong push, along with his Red Wolves teammates, for a league title."

CROSS-COUNTRY
This report comes from Coach Bruce McDowell...

"Today, the CXC squad completed our regular season of meets with a small Conference meet with South Whidbey and King’s at King’s. It was good day for the team as both sides won the team races. For the season, both squads finished the season undefeated in regular season meets, basically finishing 16-0.

We had a good day of racing today. From our veterans to our rookies, we probably had our best overall race in a couple weeks. The CXC girls had a close race with the King’s squad and won by 3 points. The girls showed their depth by putting 8 girls in the top 14. The CXC boys won handily by putting 11 boys in the top 13. Our athletes of the meet were Kelly Hall, Katelyn Wells, Austin Ward, Ryan LaTurner, Sawyer Swart, and Daniel Murphy.

Next Thursday the 19th is the Cascade Conference Cross Country Championships. Say that five times fast. See it was fun. Anyways, this meet is hosted by CXC at the Blue Heron Golf Course. Girls race at 4:00. Boys race at 4:45. Based upon our races this year, we are hoping to win both team titles. The boys are looking to win their third consecutive conference championship and their sixth in the last eight years. The girls are looking to win their tenth consecutive conference championship. If we run our best races, I would expect to write an email next week with promising news. If you are in the area and want to watch a cross country meet on a very spectator friendly course, then stop on by next Thursday."

CROSS-COUNTRY
This report comes courtesy of Coach Bruce McDowell:

"Today, the CXC squad competed at a regular season meet at South Whidbey High School, involving all seven teams from our Conference. This meet was a good opportunity for us for two reasons: One, it gave the athletes something to compare to since we ran at this same course a couple weeks ago. Two, it gave our top athletes a chance to compete on the District Championship course.

For those that pay attention to such things, we did adopt a different strategy for this course. Since the course has a difficult second mile due to a fairly substantial hill, we had our top runners back off the pace a little bit through the first mile. That made the second mile split a little closer in time to the first mile. Also led to a fast last mile for many of the athletes.

The girls squad came out ahead on the team points. They were led by Elsie Dombek (1st), Alicia Krivanek (4th) and Kelly Hall (5th). The boys squad also come out first in the team points. They were led by Grant Van Valkenburg (1st), Ben Benson (2nd) and Brennan LeBlanc (8th). Our athletes of the meet were Katelynn Wells (29 seconds faster than last time at S.Whidbey), Ben Norris (1:21 faster), Hayden Bhavsar (1:30 faster), Noah Pace (1:23 faster) and Kyle Stupfel (28 seconds)."

A NOTE ABOUT LAS VEGAS
In a song about Las Vegas, Bob Dylan once sang:

"Outside the lights were shining/On the river of tears
I watched them from the distance/With music in my ears"

Our minds and hearts are heavy with thoughts about Las Vegas and all that has unfolded there within the last 24 hours. Our thoughts go out to those in and around our Riverview community, who may be personally affected by this tragedy and saddened with the news of the day.

Our Superintendent, Dr. Anthony Smith, sent a message out to the Riverview Constant Contact e-mail list. If you did not receive it, we will be sharing it here later this evening.
