A Message from Superintendent, Dr. Anthony L. Smith
Regarding March 14th Student Activities

Dear Parents and Community Members,

As many of you have already heard, students across the United States are being encouraged to participate in a walkout for 17 minutes at 10:00 a.m. on March 14th. In the Riverview School District, we support student voice and discourse. Our principals have been reaching out to student leaders, staff, and parents to coordinate and organize around the March 14th student action.

Under the direction of each secondary school's principal, students will decide with staff what activity best provides the opportunity to express themselves safely. Students who are not interested in participating will not be pressured to do so and will report to a supervised location. At the elementary level, most schools are providing time to review school safety procedures and to answer any student questions.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this event, please contact your student's school.

Sincerely,

Dr. Anthony L. Smith
Superintendent
Riverview School District
