Riverview Learning Center’s PARADE Program Named
Repeat Winner as School of Distinction for 2016
PARADE, a K-12 Alternative Learning Schools program in the Riverview School District, has earned School of Distinction status for the second consecutive year. PARADE is one of just 94 schools and programs in the State of Washington to receive this honor, and one of just 54 schools and/or programs designated as a “Repeat Winner” in receiving this recognition.
The School of Distinction award, announced annually by The Center for Educational Effectiveness (CEE), in partnership with the Association of Educational Service Districts (AESD), The Association of Washington Principals (AWSP), the Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA), and the Washington Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development (WASCD), recognizes the top five percent (5%) of the highest-improving schools in the state for increased reading/English language arts (ELA), math achievement, and/or graduation rates over the past five years.
As a parent partnership program, this award recognizes not only the outstanding efforts of the PARADE teaching faculty, but also the continued commitment and educational support of the PARADE parents and families. The success of the program reflects a collaboration between student, staff, and parent, for which the PARADE community and Riverview Learning Center administrators are very proud to celebrate.
Riverview Learning Center principal John Bomar took time to praise his “awe-inspiring staff”, but also made it a priority to speak of the pride shared across all facets of such a unique, collaborative program.
“The hard work and partnership with the parents and students has created a system and a culture where students are able to succeed at high levels,” Bomar said. “The dedication of all partners involved has shown a commitment to this process year after year.”
The PARADE program will be one of 36 schools, and Riverview one of 11 districts, honored by the Puget Sound Educational Service District at an awards luncheon in late October.
The Riverview School District proudly celebrates the accomplishments of the PARADE program, its families, staff, and leadership, as well as the Riverview Learning Center for receiving such exceptional recognition yet again this year.
