SERVICES
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Director of Special Services, and in cooperation with appropriate district supervisors, teachers, parents and students, shall be responsible for providing diagnostic and remediation services for students with speech, language and hearing deficits, helping students to adjust and integrate within the educational setting
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Conduct speech and language screening when appropriate
2. Conduct formal assessment of all students identified as having possible communication disorders
3. Establish long and short term remediation goals in conjunction with parents, teachers and other professional staff
4. Provide direct teaching to students to remediate identified communication deficits
5. Provide consultant service to classroom teachers and other staff
6. Evaluate in terms of planned goals and revise instruction as a result of the evaluation
7. Inform students of their progress in terms of the objectives set
8. Direct student teachers, aides and student tutors when utilized
9. Participate in staff development activities
10. Perform assigned and job-related duties
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Hold a valid Washington
State Educational Staff Associate certificate for Speech Language Pathologist
for the K-12 level (Out-of-state candidates must meet
2. Possess a degree in Speech Pathology/Communication Disorders and/or possess the necessary academic preparation to qualify for a Speech Language Pathologist position
3. Have the ability to work as a team member with the principals, teachers, staff members, and parents
REQUIREMENTS:
1.
All District
employees shall undergo criminal records check, including a fingerprint check
by both the State Patrol and FBI.
2.
All District
employees shall sign an Authorization and Release of Information form relating
to prior school district employment.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
WORK DAYS/HOURS: 182 days
(183 days for teachers new to the District)
7 hrs, 30 min (includes 30 minute duty-free lunch)
SALARY: Certificated
salary schedule for 2008-2009
BENEFITS: District
provides a pro-rata FTE share of state insurance benefit entitlement to go
towards payment of premiums for medical, dental, vision, and long-term
disability insurance
