"Emergent Issues Committee" Completes Training

In August, the Riverview School District School Board approved a process to efficiently resolve emergent issues through an Emergent Issues Advisory Committee.  The Emergent Issues Advisory Committee training was facilitated and completed last month by Mike Vidos, former Boeing strategic planner.  As per board direction and superintendent recommendation, the committee includes a district office administrator (Anthony Smith), a secondary administrator (Janet Gavigan), a primary administrator (Doug Poage), a secondary certificated employee (Bruce McDowell), an elementary certificated employee (Bob Scharer), a classified employee (Jackie Norris), a parent (Rachel Baker), and a community member (Will Ibershof).

The committee is designed to address a variety of district-wide, multi-system issues.  Operating principles were established and the committee concluded that all issues should initially be solved according to district policies and procedures prior to referral.
