Riverview School Board Approves Boundary Change
At the March 8th Riverview School Board meeting the Board of Directors unanimously approved a boundary change that will move the boundary line between Stillwater and Cherry Valley Elementary schools, effective for the 2005-2006 school year. The changes are as follows:
- Students residing south of NE 150th Street and east of 275th Ave. NE would attend Stillwater Elementary School.
- Grandfather 4th grade students for next year - Any present 4th graders could remain at Cherry Valley for their 5th grade year rather than create a situation where they would be in three different schools in three years (CV, SW & TMS). Attendance waivers would be required for those 4th graders wishing to stay at Cherry Valley. The waivers need to be submitted to the Principal at Cherry Valley Elementary by April 1st. Bus service would not be provided from current locations, but students would be welcome to be transported from the future bus stops of students being transported to CV.
- Additional change following public input - Siblings of the "grandfathered" 4th graders could attend CV for one year only (2005-2006 school year) with their 4th grade sibling. Attendance waivers will be required and need to be submitted to the Principal at Cherry Valley Elementary by April 1st.
- With the exception of present 4th graders, their siblings, and students with Special Education IEP's, students in the Stillwater attendance area would not be eligible to waiver to Cherry Valley.
- Additional change following public input - Permit students residing in the Cherry Valley attendance area to waiver to Stillwater Elementary if space is available. This will assist in balancing future enrollments and class sizes between CV and SW.
