Riverview Students and Community Members Honored
Left to Right: Mitchell Breinholt, Morgan Wilhelm, Pam Werner, Kim Lisk, Superintendent Conrad Robertson, Sharon Gauthier, and Pam Deming
Various members of the "Riverview Community" were honored recently by the Snoqualmie Valley Community Network at its annual "Rise and Shine Breakfast" on June 14th. The Snoqualmie Valley Community Network recognizes outstanding volunteers who build a healthy future for children and families. Awardees set an example of building community, and typically go un-recognized or under recognized for their efforts. The Riverview honorees included:
Mitchell Breinholt
Graduating this year from Cedarcrest High School , Mitchell has contributed much to the community through serving as Student Representative on the Riverview School Board, as an Eagle Scout building a 325 ft. retaining wall for a neighborhood, volunteering for Duvall Days, Duvall Clean Up, and making planters for the city. Energetic and cheerful, Mitchell steps in to fill needs he sees, such as doing yard work for elderly residents, babysitting, and helping families move.
Morgan Wilhelm
A junior at Cedarcrest High School, Morgan serves as Student Representative to the Riverview School Board, Vice President of the National Honor Society, Treasurer of Interact, and Secretary of Knowledge Bowl. She's a registered volunteer for the Puget Sound Blood Center and volunteers at the Senior Center, Tolt Middle School Prevention Club, and Teen Feed in Seattle. Morgan helped draft legislation requesting all school boards have student representatives.
Pam Werner
Pam's time, efforts, organization skills, and dedication to the students and community make the valley shine. She chaired the Riverview Schools Committee for five successful elections so far, and is preparing for one in February. As a school board member for 18 months, she has great insight to the needs of the district. She's served on numerous PTSA and district committees. Pam also volunteers for the Holy Innocents Food Pantry.
Kim Lisk
Kim's years of unlimited energy and endless involvement with schools and the community have made an enormous difference and are greatly appreciated. Through the years, her leadership in PTSAs increased parent involvement, fundraising, and grant programs. She is a dedicated citizen who worked on the Riverview Strategic Plan, Budget Advisory Committee, Riverview Schools Committee, and is Vice President of The Riverview Educational Foundation.
Pam Deming
Because of Pam's dedication, Stillwater Elementary has an Art Docent volunteer in every classroom. Through her countless hours leading, designing, and implementing art curriculum, Pam has taught students about artists and different styles of artwork. Her efforts make Stillwater a leader in teaching and using the arts. Art Docents coordinated by Pam upload student artwork to www.artsonia.com. The "Art Around the World" display case brings art and history to Stillwater from different countries throughout the year.
Sharon Gauthier - Professional Achievement Award
Retiring after 13 years as Executive Director of Special Services for Riverview School District , Sharon has contributed greatly to our community. As a founding member and chair to the Network, Sharon helped initiate and support numerous prevention programs and activities, including the Youth Summit, a youth mentoring program, youth advisory board, parent education, and this Rise and Shine Awards breakfast. The Riverview Educational Foundation board and the Riverview Early Learning Committee are just two of the other places she'll be missed; the Valley is and will continue to be a better place, for her guidance, thoughtfulness and vision.
